I love right angle connectors!

With a run and gun shoot looming where I have to monitor the audio myself :( it was time to sort out my rig!  Having invested in a great TASCAM DR-05 preamp for my radio mic my kit was nearly complete but with the input level of my 600d at mic and the input level of my fiio headphone amp at line it was time to finally build a pad cable!  I'm far to Scottish to pay for a premade sescom one and I'm not a fan of the straight connectors, so armed with  4 dollars worth of components, an old Panasonic MiniDV tape case and my good friend Steve our tale beings.

Following the awesome schematics in this great cinema5d thread: http://www.cinema5d.com/viewtopic.php?f=75&t=12985&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=homemade+pinknoise
Steve built this awesome Audio Pad Breakout Box with Input, Pad Output and Bypass Output, it works awesome!

Starting with the Senny gw100 Radio Mic we jump into the Tascam where I'm running the onboard limiter (No more nasty DSLR clipping when someone speaking gets over excitied) it comes out of the DR-05 at line level into the Pad BOB.  Out of the Bypass jack audio goes to the Fiio headphone amp so I can keep an ear on things and have separate adjustment over the level for monitoring.
Out of the Pad jack we go straight to the mic jack on the 600d, check the photos ive got -12db tone wave file loaded onto the tascam unit so before each shoot I can check levels haven't been bumped.

Final rig, Complete with Hosa right angle connectors I'm stoked with the final rig, the BOB and Fiio ride the back of the Tascam on a magic arm and the headphone jack sneeks up behind!

Massive thanks again to Steve!

Recording Flock TV 'It's in the Music' Ep2, called for a car rig..... well it didn't really but we really wanted to try one out.  After my second magic arm arrived from coollcd.com I decided it was time to try a car rig out.  With trusty crew Steve and Rox we rigged her and shot her woot woot ! Finally discovering it was the piece of gaffer tape shimmed between the dash and the camera which solidified the shot.  Also was stoked to be test driving the brand new unified magic lantern firmware for 600d (check the pics) along with a Tascam DR05 rocking the preamp.  Magic lantern is a joy to work with, although still has some way to go with external monitors.  Steve rocked out a 60d bcam, (also running the new unifed magic lantern) back seating some broll for the short.
